Jackson and the Janks are a rock and roll and rhythm and blues garage gospel band. Known to light up the floor with fresh and time honored dancin' music. Sacred steel lifting you up and bass saxophone holding it down.
Jackson and the Janks formed in New Orleans in 2016. They quickly built a reputation around the city and beyond as a live band, putting on wild shows where one could easily expect to writhe, shake, sweat, and slither into oblivion, or at the very least witness a whole lot of other people doing that. This is thanks in no small part to the extraordinary and unmistakable vocal talent of singer/guitarist Jackson Lynch combined with the masterful and inventive musicianship displayed by each member of this uniquely arranged line-up - - which currently consists of Matt Bell on lap steel, Craig Flory on bass sax, and Sam Doores on drums and backing vocals.
Their highly anticipated self-titled debut album will be out
July 14, 2023 on Mashed Potato Records. Recorded live-to-tape by Bill Howard with the original full-band line-up (which features the addition of Duff Thompson and Sam Doores sharing backing vocals and trading off on electric piano and drums) the album captures the explosive live energy and timeless sound the band is known for.
With Lynch now based in Brooklyn, the band continues to converge to record and perform, appearing most recently at, amongst others, Blackpot Festival, Brooklyn Folk Festival, and Oldtone Roots Music Festival.
